FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who are you?

My name is Brennen Jones.  I may sometimes be credited as B.E.S. Jones.  I'm an independent filmmaker following my passion and trying to achieve my dreams.

Why are you doing this?

To raise enough money to make a nice quality feature film and to also generate interest in my filmmaking abilities so that I may also get noticed by someone to help fulfill this dream.

How much money are you trying to raise?

My goal is to at least raise one million dollars, but of course whatever amount of money I can generate through this site would be a big help.  If I do reach the mark of raising at least $1 million dollars, I would hopefully be of interest to other potential investors and that could lead to something really huge.

Regardless of what happens, I will make a movie with funds raised through this site.

Where did this idea come from?

Initially, I got the idea from Alex Tew, a whiz kid who started The Million Dollar Homepage.  He was a struggling student trying to raise money for his tuition and needless to say he reached his goal and then some.

I figured that if a struggling student can raise $1 million dollars for tuition that a struggling filmmaker, such as myself, could do the same for my film.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  My first attempt at raising funds completely failed.  The success of Alex Tew's site spawned soooooooo many copycat sites that my site never materialized even though I was offering something different than the average pixel site.

But you know what, you live and you learn.  My first attempt at raising funds helped plant the seed for this site's new and improved model.  This site's much different than the first because it's built around the premise that people love to shop and they do.  People, including myself, are always looking for a deal and some of the best deals can be found online.  My goal is to bring some of those deals to you.

So how am I exactly helping you raise money by shopping on other sites?

That answer is quite simple.  I get paid a referrer's fee for referring you to the sites.  All you have to do is shop like you normally would, but just come to my site first and let my site take you the same great sites that you normally would visit on your own.

Do you have script?

Yes.  I actually have a couple of scripts ready to be produced and a few in development.

So...what type of film will you be making?

That is pretty much still up in the air and a lot of that depends on how much money I am able to raise for the budget.  But whatever way I decide to go in, it will definitely be a good story.  You can stay tuned by checking out "The Film" section periodically.

What will you do with the money?

I WILL make a movie with the funds raised.  I do have to treat this as a business by paying taxes on money raised since I get 1099ed, but funds will go towards the making of a feature film.  A percentage of the profits will also go to variable charities as well.

Do you accept donations?

Of course I do, but due to legal reasons and morality issues because I am definitely not a non-profit.  I am trying to raise money.  So instead of taking your donation, you can purchase a $10 post card from my store.  ;-)

Will I really be labeled as a Producer, if I buy one of your $10 postcards?

Yes sir/mam!  Your official title will be Associate Producer, which is a producer who has helped in some small way to help get the project made.  You'll get your name in the end credits and on my website amongst other film sites.

What if I buy more than one $10 postcard?

If you purchase at least two $10 postcards, you will get your money back upon completion of the project and a profit has been made.  You will also get profit-sharing.

As finances are being raised for the film and new investors are brought in, the pot in which we plan to use is broken down into shares.  For example if my goal is to raise $1,000,000 and investors can buy in at $25,000, there is 40 shares to go around.  If $1,000,000 movie makes $3,000,000 profit and you own 1 share, you divide that by the 40 shares total, and that's a $75,000 profit on top of your initial $25,000 investment.

Here's how your share will be decided.  Say that out of all the people who bought $10 postcards, that money raised just off of post card sales totaled $100,000.  That's 4 shares based on above example.  But let's say that you only bought 2 postcards, which is $20, that's actually 1/1250 of a share ($25,000/$20).  We divide the $75,000 profit for one share by 1250 and your profit would be $60.  Now, I know that it doesn't sound like much, but it's a little something for helping me out.

So am I considered an investor?

Not exactly.  For legal purposes, this is something that I plan on doing.  It's my way of giving back to those that have supported me.  You should treat all postcard purchases from my store as a "donation" even though we won't call it that.

We will offer prospectuses to potential investors at a later time when ready.
